  11. Coach Bollant took over the program in March, after a successful five-years at Green Bay, where he guided th Phoenix to 5 straight League titles and 4 trips to the NCAA Tournament.

  12. Bollant is a 1994 graduate of Winona State with a degree in business education and a Master’s degree in Education from American Intercontinental University.

  13. He had a record of 148-19 with a 0.886 winning percentage. He was the Horizon League Coach of the Year for the fourth time in 2012. His teams also have success in the classroom, with GPA 3.616.

  14. He and his wife, Kari, have two daughters. He is excited to be here and has moved a lot, but hopes UI is a longer lasting stop. He likes the work ethic of the mid-west and will focus on fundamentals.

  15. He got into coaching after visiting his brother who was a missionary in the Philippines, where he saw the students cry when they got their first team uniform.

  16. He came here because the Big Ten schools can recruit. He told an incredible story about Wilma Rudolph who had polio at age 4 but went on to win 3 Olympic Gold Medals. Click here to see more about Wilma: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilma_Rudolph).

  17. Their tallest player is 6’2”, but that is not important, because they play fast and aggressively.

  18. The Coach gets to know the players and gets them emotionally involved. He talked about how men and women are wired differently.

  19. Women have to feel right to play right. Men have to play right to feel right. Men have to focus on one or two things but women can multitask better than men.
