  2. Baroque Music Claudio Monteverdi (1597-1643, Italy) Monteverdi was one of the first Baroque composers. He wrote one of the first ever operas. An opera is like a play, but set entirely to music.

  3. Baroque Music Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741, Italy) Vivaldi worked in Venice. His nick-name was “Red Priest” He wrote over 500 concertos. A concerto is a piece for a solo instrument and orchestra.

  4. Baroque Music Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750, Germany) Bach composed over a thousand pieces of music. He is one of the greatest composers to have ever lived. His music is often highly contrapuntal. A number of melodies playing at the same time
