  4. What is Blended Learning? PLACE Where will the students learn? PACE How quickly will the students go through the material? Blended Learning combines technology with traditional classroom methods and gives students some control over PACE, PLACE, and PATH of their learning. PATH What activities and in what order will the students go through the material?

  5. Implementing the Place Where are the students going to learn? • Students can work in and out of classroom • Arranging the classroom in different ways

GoFormative Implementing the Pace How quickly will each individual student progress through the learning objectives? • Students work until mastery • GoFormative, LMS, Assessment Retakes • Flexible deadlines • Crock-pot vs. Microwave • Targeted small group discussions • 3-day windows for lab activities • Extension opportunities for advanced students Learning Management System (Schoology)

Implementing the Path What activities and in what order will the students go through the material? • Group activities that meet a common goal and let students decide the order • Choice Boards • Hyperdocs, LMS • To-do lists • LMS, Sticky Notes • Multiple Assessment Options that allow for Creativity • Flipgrid, ABCya, Thinglink, Canva, BookCreator, iMovie, Clips, etc

Positive Changes • Kids feel empowered • Ownership of learning lead to kids teaching each other • Increased time management skills • Fewer students being left behind and more success in challenging classes • Advanced students are not held back • Students learning how they learn • More time for “doing” science
