  1. Planning MOF Information Management Group 2005 Module 7 – RESULTS Generating Reports

  2. Agenda What we will cover: Overview presentation Show and tell Running CSV Reports Linking via MSAccess Run sample database Questions and Answers

  3. Learning Objectives • Overview key processes required to produce a meaningful plan • Become familiar basic planning function that exists in RESULTS • Become familiar with the reports that will assist in the planning process

  4. Potential Planning Types Non-replaceable forest licence – DM has responsibility to meet basic silviculture activities using the Forest Stand Management Fund account Small scale salvage blocks for which there are basic silviculture obligations (Forestry Licence to Cut – “B07”) Waived obligations under FRPA s.108 Forest for Tomorrow – silviculture opportunities

  5. Identification methods Responsibility/OpportunityKey Identification Non-replaceable Opening Category FTFSM or FTLEVY forest licence Forest Stand Mgmt Fund Small scale salvage blocks No Opening Category created yet Forestry Licence to Cut File Type Code = B07 Tenure type code located at Tenure level of FTA Waived obligations No Opening Category created yet under FRPA s.108 Forest For Tomorrow New burns as Opening Category NDFS Disturbance Code of ‘B’ Scheduled Treatment as FTM or FTL

  6. New or Existing Openings/ SUs Planned Activities Proposed Plan contain - meets biological needs - meets obligations require adjust/update Milestones Harvest Regen Due FG Due meets Conceptual flow

  7. Process overview - NRFL 1. Identify areas of priority • Recently logged areas • Regeneration & FG Due within planning horizon (highest priority placed in past due not declared; due in next fiscal year) 2. Ensure appropriate activities are scheduled • Ensure non-priority planned activities are adjusted or removed from planning horizon • Run reports to generate total of all scheduled activities within the planning horizon 5. Summarise areas and apply cost information to create budget request

  8. Process overview - FFT 1. Identify areas of priority • Locate potential stands non-basic that have NSR or impeded • Locate non-basic stands that had good silv opportunities identified via field surveys 2. If there are appropriate activities that are not already scheduled but are good opportunities, then go into RESULTS to schedule • Ensure non-priority planned activities are date adjusted or removed from planning horizon • Run reports to generate total of all scheduled activities within the planning horizon 5. Summarise areas and apply cost information to create budget request

  9. Updating RESULTS Openings * “U”-update; “D”-declaration; “A”-approval

  10. Three Approaches • Quasi-Manual Method • Run available .pdf reports to identify milestone due dates (for NRFL), go back to RESULTS and schedule. Labour intensive. Easy to omit information. • 2. Semi-electronic • Run RDD-series CSV reports and download into Excel to identify areas and cross-reference as needed. Can see sort and priorize information as needed. But still requires lots of work to cross-compare. • 3. Integrated(this is the preferred method) • Run RDD-series and download into MSAccess database. Integrated information easy to sort, ask questions (queries), identify missing information. Easy to reapply new extracts/updates.

  11. CRS – Running Reports - NRFL Run reports to determine when RG and FG Due TF08 Can be used to find where there has been logged, but not yet in RESULTS yet.

  12. CRS – Running Reports - FFT Run reports to determine planned RDD006 activities or identification of NSR areas or impeded areas RDD008

  13. Use Reports to Schedule Treatment Requirements Use information to schedule Format available: .pdf or CSV For CSV Use in Excel or Access

  14. RESULTS - Activity

  15. RESULTS – Creating Plan Activity Add information then hit Save Date is not mandatory, but is necessary for planning purposes!

  16. Integrated Method The following remaining portion of the training is based on the demonstrated an already built MSAccess to show you how much easier this method can be.

  17. Key Data Download Reports Key Reports RDD001 RDD006 RDD008 RDD011 To build relational database

  18. CRS – Mapview Spatial Linkage

  19. Upcoming Mapview spatial queries • Mapview spatial queries: • Opening level • Activity • Planting • Forest cover
