MCF Activity Outline • L1/L2 Monitoring • Apply concatenation and/or aggregation of performance metrics for a single or similar L1/L2 technologies. • “Dashboard” • Define the metrics that give an overview of the conditions of the network in a brief and easy-to-understand format. • L3 Metric Aggregation / Concatenation • Continue the work done (&documented) in DJ1.2.3. For more info please refer to MCF presentation at JRA1 meeting in Cambridge JRA1 Meeting, Montpellier (Oct 06)

MCF progress • L1/L2 Monitoring • GN2 / NREN hybrid services have been identified – Summarize information from other JRAs documents • Most of L1/L2 performance metrics have identified – Still some work is needed • Collect information for capabilities of GN2 (Alcatel) network equipment – Collect information for other vendors. • “Dashboard” • Ongoing discussion on which metrics have to be included • Discuss how to present network conditions in concise and easy to interpret format. • L3 Metric Aggregation / Concatenation • Nothing  JRA1 Meeting, Montpellier (Oct 06)

Short term plans(in the next two months) • L1/L2 monitoring • Document the available L1/L2 metrics – Identify significant implementation problems for different vendors. • “Dashboard” • Selection of “Dashboard metrics” – Document advantages and disadvantages • Circulate a document to NOC and perfSonar partners – Seek for feedback on selected “Dashboard metrics” • Design the CNM graphical interface • L3 Metric Aggregation / Concatenation • Define detailed planning – Identify responsibilities • Other • Document MCF activity in the wiki JRA1 Meeting, Montpellier (Oct 06)
