Something's About Ben Franklin • Born on January 17, 1706 • Born tenth son,& fifteenth child out of 17 kids • Born In Boston, Massachusetts • Occupation:printer and publisher, author, inventor and scientist, and diplomat • Helped draft the Declaration of Independence • Published Poor Richards Almanack in 1732 • At age 12 became a printer with his brother James • Died on April 17, 1790. • Died at age 84

Inventions • He invented bifocals in 1784 that had two halves the upper was for distance and the lower was for reading • Invented the Franklin Stove in 1742 • Ben was a swimmer at a young age, so he invented swim fins in 1773 • In 1786 Ben invented “the long arm” which helped reached books on high shelves at the library

  4. Why Was ben franklin important to society? Ben was famous for all of his inventions, he taught people how to protect their houses from lightening rods, and why, to creating swim fins that helped him and others swim better.
