She has made a name in the Paralympics and known as the first Indian to win a medal in the Paralympics, a silver medal which is the first-ever won by any Indian in shot put in Summer Paralympics, 2016. She first tried to participate in the Paralympics in 2012 but due to some politics, she can’t participate in it but she has received the Arjuna award, one of the biggest awards in the sports person's life.   3. Deepa Malik’s father, who has served the nation and support her daughter to make her nation proud. Deepa Malik’s whole background is from the army as her father, brother named Vikram Nagpal and her husband and Bikram Nagpal has truly served our nation by being an army officer. She also has 2 daughters- Devika Malik and Ambika Malik and her older daughter has started to make our country proud by winning medals in athletics. BK Nagpal Deepa Malik’s father is Retd. Colonel BK Nagpal who was an army officer. He has played a very big supporting role in Deepa Malik’s life. During her spinal disease, he only was a person to look after her as he goes to the hospital with her daughter by carrying her on his shoulder and has to visit the whole hospital for her daughter.

  4. As he was in the army he was always busy with his duties but still, he has taken care of her daughter. Not only that but he supported her throughout her life and he became a big reason for her daughter’s success. He supported her till his death and made her daughter proud of the country. Bikram Singh Malik Deepa Malik’s husband's name is Bikram Singh Malik. Her husband is also an army officer and fought Kargil War when her wife was going for her surgery and covering the distance from her disease to the wheelchair but she managed and accepted her reality and fought the challenges.

  5. Her husband’s role was also very big as he was the only coach of Deepa Malik who made her ready for every sport she played. He was the only one who made her ready for the Paralympics and made her win a silver medal. Devika Malik She is the daughter of Deepa Malik and was born paralyzed on one side of the body. She is the co-founder of Wheeling Happiness Foundation who supports disabled persons, provides them with sports equipment and helps them financially, emotionally and physically problems.

  6. Like her mother, she also won 8 national and 3 international medals in para-athletics. Her upbringing is the only reason of how much she has achieved. Her mother taught her how to overcome the difficulties that come in the life of a disabled person and how to live with your abilities instead of considering and making disability as an excuse. She was awarded the Queen’s Young Leader Award by Queen Elizabeth II and had the honour of addressing the Commonwealth
