  1. Web 2.0 Technologies Definition and examples Advantages and disadvantages to TechMed2014

  2. What are web 2.0 technologies? • Web 2.0 technologies describe world wide web sites that use technology beyond the static pages of earlier websites. • Web 2.0 technologies may allow users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue. • Examples of web 2.0 technologies include: • Social networking sites • Blogs • Wikis • Video sharing sites, etc.

  3. Advantages of web 2.0 technologies: • Can allow users to interact with the website, making the website more attractive to the user. • Web 2.0 technologies allows patients from the hospital to share their perspectives, opinions, thoughts and experiences. This can help improve TechMed2014’s hospitals and can tell patients what to expect from the hospital. • Social networking can be used to advertise or share opinions about the TechMed2014 hospitals. • Allows users to see graphics and animations about the hospital. Also allows users/patients to access hyperlinks about special hospital features. • Allows information searches to take place, so users can easily access what they want to find on the hospital website.

  4. Disadvantages of web 2.0 technologies: • Information overload. Too much information is daily posted by many people with different thought. This creates confusion for the readers and the quality of the content is not reliable. • Freedomto post views and comments provides good opportunities for competitors and rivals to post negative comments about other companies and hospitals. • Too many fake ID’s and spammers. • Forgeries and hackers commit crimes. • The internet page could crash, and many people are reliant on the internet for information about the hospitals. • Also requires people to have technology devices and internet connection. • Content quality can be slow since the authenticity and exactness cannot always be trusted or verified.
