  1. Biblical Womanhoodin a Postmodern Culture Lesson 5 Biblical Womanhood in the Home (II)

  2. 4 THEMES IN PAUL’S LETTER TO TITUS • COMPLETE the ORGANIZATION OF THE CHURCHES • DEAL WITH FALSE TEACHERS WHO WERE IN THE CHURCH • EMPHASIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF SOUND DOCTRINE • GIVE INSTRUCTION TO CHURCHES ON PROPER CONDUCT

  3. We must connect the dots between sound doctrine and proper conduct.

  4. False doctrine – poor conduct Titus 1:9-11,16 – He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

  5. Examples of Sound Doctrine in Titus 2:11 – salvation by God’s grace 2:13 – 2nd coming of Christ 2:14 – Substitutionary atonement 3:5 – regeneration by the Holy Spirit 3:7 – salvation by grace

  6. KEY TO UNDERSTANDING LETTER TO TITUS TITUS 2:11-13 (For the graceof God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,) training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, (the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ).

  7. We live between two “comings” 1st coming – coming of grace 2nd coming – coming of glory While we wait in this present age our conduct should reflect our belief, our hope, our joy, and our certainty in the character of God and the truth of His Word.

  8. Why it’s important to live our lives worthy of our calling So that the Word of God may not be reviled So that the doctrine of God our Savior will be adorned It is good for you!

  9. The Titus 2 Woman Reverent behavior Not a slanderer or gossip Not addicted to much wine

  10. Older and Younger Women We will always find someone older than us or younger than us. We will always find someone younger in age or experience to train or mentor.

  11. Train ... To cause to be of sound mind; to recall to one’s senses; cultivating of sound judgment and prudence.

  12. Loving our husband and children Husband Make him first – before the kids Make him your best friend – before all others Learn what says “love” to him Have fun! Children Don’t neglect discipline Enjoy your children Know your children well Respect your children

  13. Self-Control Dictionary - control of one’s emotions, desires, or actions by one’s own will. The Bible - a fruit of the Spirit.

  14. Busy at Home A woman’s primaryresponsibility is the home. We are managers of our households.

  15. Two Cautions This is not a license to usurp our husband’s authority. This precludes the current popular co-responsibility approach.

  16. Thoughts on “working at home” Why am I considering work outside the home? What season of life am I experiencing right now? How can I best fulfill my “helper” role? How can I best love my husband & children?

  17. … encourage or discourage my self-control? … enhance or diminish my purity? What about kindness? What is my husband’s desire regarding my having a job outside of the home? What is the best reflection of God’s glory & His Word in my life?

  18. Culture says: My husband is to serve me. Children are a bother. I am in control although I am really out of control Purity is old-fashioned. Taking care of my home is menial work. Be kind to those who don’t know you – but watch out at home. Submission is totally out of touch.

  19. THE TITUS 2 WOMAN WHO Older & Younger / Married & Single WHAT Teach what is good; train godly conduct

  20. He is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him!
