Tahoe Library Coalition Nevada Library Association 2011 • TLC Facts: • Eight Tahoe Libraries— public and private K-12 schools, Incline Public Library, and Sierra Nevada College • Monthly meetings • Provides professional support • Creates opportunities to share resources • Collaborates to provide community cultural , literacy and technology programs • Bi-annual book sales • Grant partnerships • Tahoe Facts: • The highest alpine lake in the U.S. and the second largest alpine lake in the world • Towns of Tahoe include: Tahoe City, Incline Village, Truckee, Kings Beach, Squaw (Olympic) Valley, Alpine Meadows, South Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay, Crystal Bay, Brockway, Homewood, Tahoma, Meeks Bay, Meyers, Stateline, and Zephyr Cove. • States: California and Nevada • Average Snowfall: 415 inches

TLC History • The idea stemmed from the vision of three community members to form a lake-wide coalition of libraries which would support literacy efforts and share opportunities and resources. • First meeting of librarians, Spring 2008 • Sierra Nevada College hosted two librarian luncheons, 2008 & 2009 • Currently hold monthly meetings rotating locations

  11. TLC Provides Professional Support • We get to know each other’s areas of expertise. • We become familiar with each other’s library resources. • We share our professional challenges with each other. • We show our community we are connected but unique.
