  3. About the LET Commissioned by Health Education North East to carry out all recruitment for Specialty Trainees (with the exception of General Practice Trainees). Contract with CDDFT until 31 March 2014 – tender for a new host Employs Specialty Trainees on behalf of all host Training Trusts in the region. Arrangement avoids trainees having to be issued with separate contracts of employment when rotating between Training Trusts Recharge arrangement within the department to ensure accurate and timely recharge to Host Training Trusts for trainees salaries and out of hours.

Recruitment The LET will attend National meetings to ensure we are up to date with new recruitment processes, recruitment dates, system updates The LET HR Officers will lead on advertising vacant posts within Specialty Training in the Northern Deanery LET HR Officer will lead on the assessment of candidates through to offering posts to trainees and ensuring the Training Programme Director is updated with fill rates

Employment Pre-employment checks Specialty Rotations: - Training Programme Directors, Trainees, Trusts and Payroll Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave, Special Leave, Parental Leave, Sickness, Less Than Full Time Training, Pay Disciplinary Matters, Serious untoward incidents, Grievances must be reported to LET as the trainees employer. Cases are usually led by LET working closely with Host Training Trusts, TPD, Northern Deanery, GMC, NCAS etc

The LET role in ARCP The LET are there as the trainees employer and sit on the ARCP as an advisor not a panel member The LET ensure the trainee has been treated fairly and supported throughout the process LET organise ARCP appeal including panel members, packs and venue LET manage trainees employment once outcome 4 awarded

  7. Occupational Health Support Service Trainees sickness must be reported to LET by Host Training Trust or TPD and Managing Attendance policy will be used LET are responsible for referring training with Health issues to Occupational Health Trainees must agree to referral, report from OH will be received by LET and any adjustment information will be shared with relevant parties (Host Trust and/or TPD). Information on trainees personal health conditions will not be disclosed Any Educational Support referrals are managed by Specialty Training

LET Payroll Team Process and pay all expenses and ad-hoc payments on behalf of the Host Training Trust (e.g. Study leave, travel claims, additional duty hours) Make deductions on behalf of the Training Trusts for (e.g. accommodation, car parking) Process salary sacrifice scheme for childcare vouchers and cycle to work Pay day for all LET trainees is the last Wednesday of each calendar month All expenses must be received by payroll section before the 5th of each month to guarantee payment that month
