IR Definitions • Wikipedia • broad category of work done at schools, colleges and universities to inform campus decision-making and planning in areas such as admissions, financial aid, curriculum, enrollment management, staffing, student life, finance, facilities, athletics, and alumni relations • AIR • Their mission is “to support its members in the process of facilitating quality, data-informed decisions for the enhancement of higher education.” • IU IR Mission • Meet the institutional data, research, and analytic needs of the university administration, to assure accurate and timely reporting of data to internal and external audiences, and to support data-driven decision-making.

Group Activity - 1 • Draw a diagram of what IR looks like at your campus. • Who participates in IR activities at your campus? • What expertise do you have on your campus? • Who do you report to and who do they report to? • What information is provided routinely? • Who do people go to when they have questions? • Compare your diagram with others in your group – Similarities/Differences. • Share some with the whole group. Would you have changed your picture after looking at others drawings? • Any observations????
