  3. Not many months have passed since teenager Alexander Cold followed his bold grandmother into the heart of the Amazon to uncover its legendary Beast.   4. Summary • Ben, Dylan, and Gerry are still mourning their mother?s death when their dad decides to buy a boat and take them on a year-long sailing trip. Tensions flare between Ben and his father, but they gradually learn to live together in close quarters. One morning, the boys wake up to discover their father has disappeared, and they are lost. What happened to him? Where are they? What will they do when a treacherous storm looms on the horizon? M. H. Summary • Nick and Allie are involved in a horrific car crash.  Rather than surviving the accident or finding themselves in another "higher" place, they wake up to this mysterious world.  Caught between the living and the deceased, Allie and Nick find themselves searching for answers and eventually fighting for their sanity and freedom.  The author manages (once again) to create a fantastic story that extends beyond your imagination and makes it realistic for the reader.  The characters in the story are complex.  The reader will question which people in Everlost are actually evil - seemingly sweet Mary who takes in all the children and provides them with a home or the "evil" McGill who traps Everlost children and leaves them dangling (literally!) for all eternity in his pirate ship?  Will Nick and Allie find themselves a place in this world?  Will they ever reach their final destination? 

  6. Summary • This is a heart rendering account of one family's terrible terrible time in the Holocaust and how they survived. The story, an autobiography, begins with Elli L. Friedmann, telling her story. They were a Jewish family. Eli daydreams of her life as a celebrated poet, has a life rich with family, school and thoughts about boys. But all that changes quickly in March of 1944, when the Nazis invade Hungary. First Eli can longer attend school, have possessions, or even talk to her neighbors. Then she and her family are forced to leave their homes behind and move into a crowded ghetto, where privacy becomes a luxury of the past and food becomes scarcity. She and her mother are treated very cruelly, and they were separated from the rest of their family. At one point they were forced to shave their heads and wear ugly prison garb. The least little infraction of the rules in the various prisons they were in would mean the gas chambers. Eli's mom was badly injured, and almost did not recover. But through strong faith, and a will to survive, they both lived through the tortures they had to endure in a concentration camp.

  7. Summary • Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander’s face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate…until she sees Ky Markham’s face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.The Society tells her it’s a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she’s destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can’t stop thinking about Ky as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society’s infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.
