  3. What is the purpose of a BYOD classroom? The bottom line is that your child's learning experience will be significantly enhanced and I've outlined a few reasons below: 1. Increased motivation and engagement 2. An additional resource for gathering information 3. Multiple learning styles and presentation of student work4. Students can customize tools and resources they need to help them succeed5. They will be learning life-long 21st Century skills that will follow them for years

  4. What types of devices are students allowed to bring? • Any wireless device that has internet capabilities such as tablets, Kindle Fires, Smartphones, and etc.

  5. What if my child doesn’t have a device? That’s okay, it is not required.

  6. These devices are expensive, what safety features are in place to protect them? • Students will be in charge of protecting their own devices • Keep them in your backpacks until in class • Devices will be in your child’s desk when not in use. • High quality protective case (such as Otterbox or Lifeproof)

  7. Is it safe for students to be going online and using apps at school? • BYOD server only • NO camera or video without teacher permission • NO social media sharing • Students may not install apps or register for Web 2.0 sites without a parent present.

  8. Will the school be offering technical support? • No, as this will take away from instructional time. If it is not something easily remedied students will have to take their device home and have a parent help them. • Per CCSD policy, students are NOT allowed to handle another students device.

  9. Edmodo • Edmodo was created to bring education into a 21st century environment. • The number one K-12 social learning network in the world. • Polls, quizzes, ask/answer questions, etc • PRIVATE – our class only – parents can monitor

  10. What are the rules? • 3 Strikes and Your Device Is Out! • If I choose to break these rules the consequences are: • 1st time – I will not have the privilege to use my device at school for 24 hours. • 2nd time – I will not have the privilege to use my device at school for 1 week. • 3rd time – I will no longer have the privilege of bringing my device to school for the remainder of the school year.
