  37. CO2 Emission by Fuel Fossil fuel consumption is increasing rapidly to satisfy growing energy demand after the Industrial Revoluation, which started at the end of the 18th century.

  38. We invented another use for energy about 1950. Computer models predict mean temperature increases of 1.5 to 5.5 degrees C by 2100 if no action is taken to limit greenhouse gases.

  39. Kyoto Protocol The Kyoto Protocol is a legal pact by industrialised countries to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, which are thought to speed global warming. The aim is to reduce emissions by 5% by 2012, each country has its own target to meet. The US - the world's biggest polluter - pulled out of the deal in 2001, but 141 other countries ratified the treaty.
