  1. GRAFT VS HOST DISEASE

  2. Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a condition that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant, wherein the newly transplanted cells (the graft) recognize the recipient's tissues as foreign and attack them. This immune response can lead to a range of symptoms and complications, affecting various organs and systems in the body. GVHD can be acute or chronic, depending on when it occurs after the transplant.

  4. Chronic Graft Versus Host Disease Chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) is a condition that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant, where the transplanted donor cells attack the recipient's tissues. Unlike acute GVHD, chronic GVHD develops more than 100 days after the transplant and can affect various organs, leading to persistent and sometimes long-term complications. Chronic GVHD is a complex and challenging condition that requires ongoing medical management.

  5. Acute Graft Versus Host Disease Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) is a complication that can occur after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant when immune cells from the donor attack the recipient's tissues. It typically develops within the first 100 days after the transplant and can affect various organs, leading to a range of symptoms. Acute GVHD is a serious condition that requires prompt diagnosis and treatment.

  6. Symptoms Chronic Graft Versus Host Disease Acute Graft Versus Host Disease • Weight loss • Vaginal dryness • Dry eyes, changes in vision • Joint pain or stiffness • Reduced bile flow from the liver • Shortness of breath because of lung damage • Dry mouth, white patches inside the mouth • Muscle weakness • Brittle hair and early graying • Reduced bile flow from the liver • Fatigue or chronic pain • Jaundice • Skin rash • Increased risk for infections • Abdominal pain or cramps • Nausea or vomiting • Loss of appetite • Diarrhea • Abnormal liver function
