  5. Workshop Objectives • Serve as a Forum that brings together (Australian and international) policy makers, researchers, developers, and users of Grid technologies and applications. • Promote the exchange of ideas and collaborations among different scientific and business communities. • Promote sharing of Grid Technologies and Expertise. • Promote the development of Australian Academic Grid testbeds that facilitate sharing of resources for technology research and development. • Initiate and Promote National Grid Research Agenda

  6. Volunteers/Organisers • Workshop Co-Chairs: • Bill AppleBe, Victorian Partnership for Advanced Computing (VPAC) • Rajkumar Buyya, University of Melbourne • Paul Coddington , University of Adelaide • Andrew Wendelborn, University of Adelaide • Local Organisation • Jane Sabato (chair) • Candy Chong , VPAC (co-chair) • Belinda Kesters , VPAC • David Bannon , VPAC • Sudharshan , VPAC • Shoaib Burq, GRIDS Lab @ Melbourne • Srikumar Venugopal, GRIDS Lab @ Melbourne

  7. Australian Grid Forum • A “open” community forum to provide an exchange of information about Australian grid activities and a focus for discussion of grid-related issues. • Provide a broad-based repository of information about all Australian grid activities. • A facilitator of open communication between groups, to encourage collaboration and to ensure the progress of grid activities both locally, and through interaction with international grid organizations. • Support specialised discussion and working groups. • Share expertise in development and deploymemt Grid technologies and applications.

  8. Australian Grid Forum can do: • Coordinate a web site with • links to Australian grid-related projects; • a catalogue of grid facilities; • a discussion forum: • ideas for applications, new directions etc • example discussion issue: setting up a hierarchy of GIIS for Australia • a mailing list; • Facilitate information exchange, such as • sharing experience with deployment of Grid technologies • setting up workshops, web conferences, and similar • Specialized discussion groups and working groups • Promote Australian Grid Technologies • Encourage Aus application areas • Seek collaborative opportunities within Australia, Asia Pacific and internationally • Assist in an advisory and educational role through APAC in particular • Encourage setting up of Access Grid nodes (via VisLab)
