Why be a Longhorn? • Highest graduation rate in 4 years • Educates more students than any other TX university • Produces 2nd most doctoral degrees • 170 fields of studies • 360 connections (small group connections made through assistance of university) (20 students meet once a week) • 1,100 student organization • Freshman Research Initiative (undergraduate research involvement)

  3. GENERAL ADMISSION INFORMATION • Enroll around 7,500 freshman each year • Top 7% automatic admit (make up 75% of accepted students) • 25% are admitted through holistic review Quality, diversity and academic fit Academic and personal achievement

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS • Must apply by December 1st on ApplyTexas.org • Will accept December SAT or ACT plus Writing scores • Send separate expanded resume (give every detail, craft resume based on interest area) • 2 essays (written at college level) (Essay C required and 1 addtl) • Market yourself (don’t stress about length) • Letters of recommendation (no more than 3, must be info not found in resume or transcript)—OK with no letters of rec • Prioritize 1st choice major, if 2nd choice full move to undergraduate studies

  5. ADMISSION CONTINUED • No trick or treat if your application isn’t complete! October 15th is recommended priority deadline! • $75 application fee • March 1st all decisions completed • May 1st deadline to accept admission

OTHER WAYS TO UT CAP-Coordinates Admissions Program --30 hours, 3.2 GPA guarantees UT transfer --Through 7 UT System campuses PACE Co-Enrollment --1 UT course and the remainder at ACC (Austin Community College) --Most rights and privileges of UT student --Transfer as a sophomore to undergraduate studies or liberal arts Transfer --3.6 or 3.7 with 30 hours

  7. FINANCIAL AID • Apply for scholarship by December 1st (separate application on ApplyTexas.org) • Additional scholarship information found on texasscholarships.org • March 15th FAFSA priority deadline • Tuition: $27, 254 for 2 long semesters; varies depending on programs

  8. HOUSING • May 1st housing deposit due • Mid-July: residence hall and roommate assignments given • 70% of freshmen choose to live on campus • Housing app sent in once your ApplyTexas app complete
