Study Skill #4: Taking Exams On Exam Day before you get to the exam room: - Wake up on time - Rehearse from your one-page note sheet - Avoid talking to other students about the exam! - Be sure you bring things you will need: calculator, pencils, watch, etc. Remember the BIG PICTURE – this is ONE exam in ONE course. Keep it in perspective!

  3. Just Before the Exam • Get to the exam room on time and get comfortable and settle in to your seat. • Rehearse the items on your note summary that you have trouble remembering. You will write these on the exam IMMEDIATELY after it’s handed out. • Avoid talking to other students about the exam, especially those who tend to panic! • Be sure to put your notes away.

When the Exam is Handed Out • Immediately write down anything you are afraid of forgetting. • Be sure to put your name, date, etc. on everything you need to. • Read directions, if any, carefully • Glance over entire exam before starting - How is it structured? - What types of questions are there? - Are there more points on one section than another? - Devise a plan of attack to budget your time
