  3. Strategy will: • Leverage Vanderbilt’s unique strengths • Create greater international prominence for VU • Create exciting research and study environment for VU faculty and students

  4. Two-Part Work Plan • Understand VU’scurrent research ties with Asia (Know your school) • Brainstorm new programs & initiatives that will build on VU’s unique strengths (Connect and Dream) • Identify core partners in China and India • Consider curricular improvements

  5. Understanding current activities • Survey significant research ties with Asia • By school (by region within school) • Get info from Deans • Talk to colleagues • Generate report for each school

  6. Brainstorming • Consider models at other universities • Consider how to create links across university – build on present work by drawing others in • Design a strategy that is very VU
