  1. Treating Painful Leg Veins There’s nothing worse than having to suffer painful leg vein conditions like varicose veins and deep vein thrombosis. Not only are they extremely painful, but they can often be unsightly. However, not all vein conditions require surgery. Some may not even need treatment at all, which is why you should always consult your doctor. Today we look at several types of leg vein pain treatment as well as vein removal treatments. Like we said, there’s nothing worse than a painful leg vein, so don’t suffer in silence! Treatment Options for Painful Leg Veins There is a wide range of leg vein pain treatments available, with options for vein removal treatment as well. Compression stockings help improve circulation and alleviate pain, while surgery is sometimes necessary to relieve leg vein pain permanently. A vein removal treatment such as ligation and stripping would be most likely in this case. Additionally, your doctor may also prescribe newer

  2. treatments such as transilluminated power phlebectomy, if they think it can improve pain. Below are some of the most effective treatment options available: Compression stockings apply pressure to the affected area to steadily improve circulation in the leg. Since most varicose veins and other conditions affect the lower leg and ankle, the stocking is usually tightest there. This improves blood flow as it encourages the blood to move upwards back towards the heart. Additionally, compression stockings help to ease pain and discomfort, as well as swelling. If you suffer from varicose veins, compression stockings will also prevent new varicose veins from developing. Ligation and stripping involve tying off the vein and removing it via a surgical procedure. Your surgeon will make two small incisions, one at the top of the affected vein, near the groin, the second close to the knee. Next, the top part of the vein is tied off, blocking blood flow to the affected vein. Then a thin wire is passed up from the bottom of the vein and passed through the lowest incision to remove it. Following the procedure, the deep veins in the center of your leg will take over control of blood flow. Transilluminated powered phlebectomy is a new vein removal treatment, but it has been shown to be effective, despite the risks. It bears some similarities to ligation and stripping, though the treatments are also quite different. The procedure requires your surgeon to make two small incisions in your leg. Afterward, your surgeon will use a specialized light called an endoscopic transilluminator under your skin to identify the affected veins. The problem veins, whether they’re varicose or spider veins, can then be taken out. Removal is carried out using a special suction device which is applied to each incision once your surgeon has cut the veins.
