  5. KUD’S By the end of the day you should: • Be able to use your assignment book • Be able to read and follow your schedule • Get to know the names and interests of students in your class

  6. School Times • School begins at 7:40 AM- After that, you are tardy. • 6th graders are released from the commons at 7:30AM • Lunch is from 10:55- 11:31(You will eat with your 5th period teacher) • School ends at 2:40 PM

  7. Schedules Make sure you have: • Language Arts • Math • Science • Social Studies • 2 Related Arts - I Music= Band - V Music= Chorus Don’t see Band? If you would like to take band, but it is not on your schedule, go to the band room when you have P.E..

  8. Car and Bus Riders • Car riders are dropped off and picked up in the back of the school. DO NOT LET YOUR PARENTS DROP YOU OFF IN THE FRONT! • Bus riders are dropped off and picked up in the front of the school.

Lunch • Lunch times/order- Posted in Room • Lunch is $2.00 ($0.40 free and reduced) • Assigned tables • Lines serve the same • Must get all that your want the first time (cookies, ice cream, chips, etc.) • No visiting with classmates at other tables • Ask permission to go to bathroom, guidance, or office • Tables and area must be clean before leaving • No food or drinks leave the lunch area

  16. Building Tour • Take a minute to look over your schedule. • Take note of the related arts classes on your schedule. Let’s get our tour on!!!!!!

  17. Lockers Lockers will be assigned in your last academic period. Policies: • Go to lockers between classes (except Science and Social Studies) • Backpack stay in locker until related arts • No sharing of lockers/locks • Do not give out combination • Lock must be kept on the lockers at all times • Ask teachers for help, not other students

  24. GMS and 6th Grade Policies • Cell Phones- Turned off, in locker- If it’s taken up, it’s ours for 7 days • Tardies- If you come in the room after the door is shut, you are tardy. If you do not have your hall pass and need to use the restroom, you may take a tardy. • Discipline– Referrals 1-3 turned in to Mrs. Laws, #4 and 5 after school detention, after fifth there are several things that can happen- it’s up to admin • After School Detention- Tuesday and Thursday 2:40-4. • Gum- NO GUM!

  25. Dress Code • All shirts and tops must cover the stomach and back even when seated and should be able to be tucked into pants. If sleeveless, the strap over the shoulder must be at least the width of a credit card. Shirts with the arms and side cut out will not be allowed even if there is a tank top under it. • Hats, caps, visors, headbands, bandanas (on any part of the body), combs, picks, or miscellaneous head coverings may not be worn in the school building. Students may not wear sunglasses in the building. • Hair coloring or hairstyle must not draw undue attention to the individual. Administration will make final decision on whether or not it is appropriate. • Pants must be worn at the waist (no sagging). No skin should be shown above the kneecap.

Dress Code Cont. • Patches, shirts, or any other wearable item bearing obscene, offensive, tasteless, sexual innuendo, or suggestive signs or symbols (weapons, alcohol, drugs), pictures, and words are not Shorts and skirts can be no shorter than 3 inches above the kneecap. If you can touch skin, they are too short. • Shoes must be worn at all times. • No industrial or pet chains or collars around the neck, wrists, or waist or chains attached to wallets. • Other than earrings, body piercing is prohibited. • Pajamas or house shoes are prohibited. • If leggings are worn a skirt, shorts, or shirt must cover the leggings to three inches above the knee.

  27. Stairs in the 6th Grade Wing • Back staircase is to be used when going upstairs • Staircase near the library is to be used when going downstairs

  28. School Areas 6th graders are not allowed in the 8th grade or 7th grade areas.

Procedures School • Hall Passes- Orange • School Phone- Ask permission • Lockers- See a teacher • Guidance- Ask Permission • Bullying – Report to an adult Emergencies • Fire Drill- Out side door, NO talking, walk • Intruder- Go to designated area in room • Tornado Drill- hallway, crouch down with head to knees • Nurse- Ask permission
