DSPACE CZ Facts • 7 installations: • VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (VŠB-TUO) • University of Pardubice (UPCE) • Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU) • Masaryk University (MU) – 2x • Czech Technical University in Prague (CVUT) • Jan Evangelista Purkyne University in Usti n. L. DSPACE CZ Installations – General Information • 7 installations since 2006, further are expected • Reasons for DSpace: • more suitable than EPrints • large user community • relatively cheap • ready to use immediately after installation • detailed documentation • universal usage • Aim: building institutional repository for scientific outputs of R&D – especially for electronic theses and dissertations • Financial support from projects Systémy pro zpřístupňování eVŠKP 2009

DSPACE CZ Installations – Content • Content types: • ETD, metadata records for scientific journal papers, proceedings, videos and pictures, full texts of mathematical journal papers • Content availability: various approaches – from open to restrictive (installation of DSpace at CVUT and UJEP are accessible only via intranet) • Content recruitment: • import from other information systems, scanning of printed documents (i.e. proceedings, journal papers) • members of academic community are not involved yet • Data maintaining: libraries (cca 3 person) • System maintaining: IT centres, external providers (1 to 1,5 full-time employment) Systémy pro zpřístupňování eVŠKP 2009

DSPACE CZ Czech DSpace User Group Meetings • Meetings in 2008 and 2009 • With support of Association of Libraries of Czech Universities • Aims: presentation of Czech installations, experience exchange, focus on practical issues • Presentations are available in repository DSpace VŠB-TUO • Next meeting?
