En plus… • In addition to FOLLOWINGthe noun, they MUST also… AGREE with the noun! • What does this mean? • The adjectiveAGREESin GENDER and NUMBER with the noun it describes • REGULAR ADJECTIVES… • FEMININEadd an “E” to the end of the adjective • PLURIELadd a “S” to the end. • FEMININE et PLURIEL add an “ES” to the end.

  5. The original adjective formation is the singulier masculine form! In this case, it is “petit.” La formation • Thus… if a nounis… • MASCULINE the adjective is also masculine… • Le garçon est petit. • FEMININE the adjective MUST be feminine. • La fille est petite. • PLURALthe adjective is plural. • Les garçons sont petits. • FEMININE et PLURAL the adj MUST be feminine and plural. • Les filles sont petites.
