  2. According to chapter 106, “Ahab’s Leg,” what reason is given for Ahab’s seclusion prior to the doubloon scene? According to chapter 106, “Ahab’s Leg,” what goes further than “the ancestry and posterity of Joy”? Name an odd-job that the carpenter does…(not his usual fixing boats, paddles, oars…) Explain this quote about the carpenter: “For nothing was this man more remarkable, than for a certain impersonal stolidity, as it were’ impersonal, I say; for it so shaded off into the surrounding infinite of things, that it seemed one with the general stolidity discernible with the whole visible world; which while pauselessly active in uncounted modes, still eternally holds its peace, and ignores you, though you dig foundations for cathedrals.” (Stolid = unemotional, not easily excited or upset) What does Ahab rant about as he is waiting for his leg from the carpenter? What bothers him so much about this situation?  Why does Ahab refer to the carpenter as a “manmaker”? To whom does Ahab refer to as “Prometheus”? In designing his perfect man, Ahab proposes a man without eyes, but with a ***? Instead? What does Ahab remind Starbuck of as he is pointing a loaded musket at him? Why does Ahab acquiesce to Starbuck’s suggestion to “up Burtons”?  What does Ahab use to baptize his special Moby-killing harpoon? What personal item does Ahab give to Perth to make the barbs on the harpoon that he’s designing to kill Moby Dick?
