History • Precedent: a council named CACIT (1999-2004) that assisted both the Government and the Parliament (only from 2003) • CAPCIT was set up in 2008 by the Parliament of Catalonia (through a decision of Parliament of Catalonia’s Board) > the only parliament in Spain to have a scientific and technical advisory body.

  6. Composition • 18 members (+ 1 secretary) • 9 MPs (Speaker, two members of the Board of the Parliament of Catalonia and 6 MPs appointed by each parliamentary group) • 9 representatives from the main scientific and technical institutions of Catalonia.

  11. Nature • What makes CAPCIT closer to the Parliamentary Committee model? • CAPCIT is not a committee (in legal terms), but very similar. • CAPCIT is not a unit in the Catalan parliamentary structure. • CAPCIT does not produce TA.
