  2. Migraines • 1 in 4 American Households have someone who suffers from migraines • 18% of Women and 6% of Men • Migraine ranks in the top 20 of the world's most disabling medical illnesses • Chronic Daily Headache is defined as having symptoms for at least 15 days per month.

  3. Symptoms • Collection of neurological symptoms • Recurring throbbing pain in one side of the head • 1/3 of attacks affect both • Visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and tingling or numbness in the extremities or face. • sensitivity to sound, light, touch and smell • Last between 4 and 72 hours

Treatments • Acute Treatment-taken as symptoms show • (ibuprofin, acetaminophen, aspirin, triptans) • Preventive Treatment- Taken daily before symptoms • Cadiovascular drugs, antidepressants, anti-sezure drugs • Complementary Treatment- relaxation techniques, acupuncture, exercise • No Permanent Treatment
