Instruments in FP6: Integrated Projects • Keywords: Critical Mass and Integration (all elements of the technology chain, geographical diversity, university/industry collaboration) • Magnitude of up to several tens of MEUROS, but also projects of more limited size (the necessary size to attain goals) • Selection on the basis of Calls for Proposals • Participation of Min. 3 legal entities from 2 member States (Note: minimum can be changed in Workprogrammes) • High level of Autonomy and Flexibility: Objective driven

Instruments in FP6: Networks of Excellence • Keywords: Cooperation and coordination of research efforts (Universities, research centres, enterprises as well as technology organisations) • Several MEURO funding per year • Selection on the basis of Calls for Proposals • Participation of Min. 3 Universities, Research Labs, Industrial Labs (Note: minimum can be changed in Workprogrammes) • Large degree of autonomy • Possibility to modify plans and allocation of work • Possibility to launch a call for participation

  12. Instruments in FP6: Article 169 • Keywords: Joint execution of National programmes • At the initiative of the member States • Selection on the basis of joint or coordinated Calls for Proposals • EC funding used to support the jointly executed programmes

Financing in FP6 • Instrument EU contribution • Networks of Excellence Grant for Integration: max 25% of the value of the capacity and resources proposed for integration as a fixed amount to support the joint programme of activities • Integrated Projects: Grant to the budget: max 50% for research, 35% for demonstration, 100% for activities such as training • Participation in programmes To be defined in decisions taken on the basis of Art. 169 undertaken by several MS • Other instruments (specific research Grant to the Budget: 50% to 100% of the budget and innovation projects) • Note: the financing principle will no longer be the ‘eligible costs’.
