  3. Origin • To Face Global Competition • Technology Improvement Need • Senior scholars, scientists, engineers • Sponsored by NSC Since May 2005 NARL Implemented this Project

  4. Goal • To infuse new energy to domestic industry, government, universities, and research sectors and moreover, elevate Taiwan's competitiveness in the international arena by these extensive knowledge and experience of the Elite Professionals.

  5. Taiwan Overseas Taiwanese Build Up Relationship

Content • Every year, the project sponsors 20-25 senior or retired overseas Taiwanese professionals to return to Taiwan for short-term employment and visits to local agencies. • Established the Project Office For managing the project and providing service to Elites • Regulations, Website, Review committee, schedule arranging, administration..

  9. Targets of Recruiting • Taiwanese (was born or has ever registered in Taiwan) • 15+ years Working Experience • PhD or Master • Outstanding achievement or special skill in his/her fields and can hardly be recruit in Taiwan

Process(1) • The project recruits primarily through the NSC’s Science-technology (S&T) Division attached to Taiwan’s official mission overseas which identifies and recommends the potential candidates to apply.  • The evaluation committee set up by NARL would then screen and select the applicants.

Process(3) • To Prepare your proposal by using the form of Elite project • What can you do for Taiwan and your plan (the organizations you want to visit to) • Two references • Typing either English or Chinese is OK • Above 1,000 words • After finishing the proposal, please e-mail it to S&T Division of SF

  13. S&T Division Elite Project Committee NSC Process(4) • S&T Division of SF will send your proposal to Elite project Office. We will hold a committee to review the applications 5 to 6 times a year • Duration of Operation: 2 ~3 months • 9 Committee members come from government, academic organization, and industry. • NSC’s approval

  14. Regulation • Duration of Service:1~2 months, maximum to 3 months a year if needed. • Providing some benefits include: • Subsidy:NT$5,000 per day without 20% income tax • round-trip airfare:NT$46,000 • The Elite Project helps set up your visits to local agencies. 

  15. Obligation • Final Report • What did you do (performance) and what’s your suggestion • Above 1,000 words • Questionnaire
