  5. The significance of Pentecost • The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) • Go into all the World and make disciples • Baptise them • Teach them • The Great Co-Mission • Jesus is with us and in us by His Holy Spirit • We don’t have to GO – we’re already GOING

  6. Pentecost – for us • Born of the Spirit • Baptised in the Spirit • Filled with the Spirit

Pentecost – for us • Born of the Spirit • Convicts us • Indwells us • Sets our spirits alive • Enables us to change our ways • Sealing | Deposit | Guarantee • 2Corinthians 1:22; 2Corinthians 5:5; Ephesians 1:15; 1Timothy 1:14 ‘…no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, “You must be born again.” The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit’ – John 3:5-8 (NIVUK)

Pentecost – for us • Baptised with/in the Spirit • When did the disciples believe? • There has to be a first time • Filled with the Spirit • Continuous experience • “Be fulfilled with the Spirit” (1599 Geneva Bible) • Historic event or daily experience? • When was the first time? When was the last time? When will be the next time? ‘wait…in a few days you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit’ – Acts 1:4 (NIVUK) ‘…be filled with the Spirit’ – Ephesians 5:18 (NIVUK)
