  3. HAZ Collect All-Hazards Emergency Message Collection System Purpose: Collect Non-Weather Emergency Messages (NWEMs) for wider public distribution.

  4. HAZ Collect • Allows authenticated and authorized external Emergency Managers at the Federal, state and local levels to submit Non-Weather Emergency Messages for broadcast over NOAA/NWS dissemination systems. • Two part process: ● FEMA Authorization ● NWS Authorization

  5. HAZ Collect Examples of Non-Weather Emergency Message Events: - Civil Emergency Message - Earthquake Warning - Avalanche Watch/Warning - Hazardous Materials Warning - Nuclear Power Plant Warning - Fire Incidents - 911 Telephone Outage Emergency - Shelter in Place Warning - Volcano Warning

  6. Incident occurs HAZ Collect Message Posted via FEMA IPAWS Message Prepared Broadcast over NWS systems Message in HAZCollect Message thru NWS

  8. HAZ Collect What we’re doing: • Identifying problems and issues • Holding Weekly TELCONs with FEMA • Updating NWS web sites • Contacting WFOs and Regions when we receive a HazCollect registration form • Developing a new NWS Registration form • Updating the NWS Directive for HazCollect
