  2. What? Why? How? • Carnivorous plants are plants that can eat insects and/or small animals • They get their energy the same way the other plants do…. Photosynthesis • They eat insects and other small animals because they live in places where the soil is low in nutrients from their “PREY” • As you can see some Carnivorous Plants have a sticky substance that catches flies on their leaves. • Others drown the insects in a pitcher shape that is part of plant.eat insects and/or small animals.

  3. Venus fly trap(Dionaea) It is the most commonly known carnivorous plants The leaf closes when the tiny hairs inside the leaf are touched The picture (right) shows a leaf with an unusual double trap.( it is the only leaf known to have to grown like that)

  4. Pitfall Traps(Pitcher Plant) The pitcher plant is basically a slippery leaf wrapped into a tube shape that contains a pool of digestive enzymes at the bottom

  5. Bladder traps(Bladder wort) The Bladderwort is like an under water Venus Fly Trap. The bladders suck in and trap water insects.
