  3. Building the Burj Dubai • The Burj Dubai is being built mainly by engineers and workers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China and the Philippines • In 2008 there were 7,500 workers • Per day, skilled carpenters earn approximately six dollars, while laborers get around 4 dollars

  4. Facts and Figures • Each day, the water system will supply 250,000 gallons • The elevators will be the world’s fastest going 40 mph • The building can be seen from 59 miles away • The total construction cost to build the Burj Dubai, is $4.1 billion dollars • The total concrete used is equal to a side walk 1180 miles long • There are at least 36,000 light bulbs burning constantly • It has the tallest observation deck at 442 meters high

  5. Discussion Questions 1.) The Burj Dubai can be seen from 59 miles away. What city is about 59 miles away from your classroom? 2.) There are at least 36,000 light bulbs constantly on.
