  3. Who are my learners & their characteristics? • I will be teaching first graders • They will be learning about our great state of Texas, the Texas flag, the American Flag, liberty bell, and the bald eagle • My first grade students will be able to learn and recite the United States Pledge of Allegiance, as well as the Texas Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Bloom’s Taxonomy: The Objectives • The students will use the following objectives to learn our national and state symbols: -Knowledge: arrange, define, duplicate, label, list, memorize, name, order, recognize, relate, recall, repeat, reproduce state. -Synthesis: arrange, assemble, collect, compose, construct, create, design, develop, formulate, manage, organize, plan, prepare, propose, set up, write.

  5. How will this be taught? • The students will be broken up into groups where they will research the American and Texas symbols on the internet, then the groups will have a choice to put a 1-2 page paper together or present a power point slide show together.

  6. What else you ask … • The students will also create a Texas or American symbol of their choice out of model magic, then they will paint their symbol using the correct colors to represent the symbol they have chosen.

  7. How will I evaluate the lessons? • I will evaluate my students on how well they have worked together as well as how they present their assignment. • I will also give them an oral or written quiz on the different Texas and American symbols that we have studied in the unit.
