  7. Ⅱ. Common Installer Dialog Details - Installation version Welcome Dialog View User’s Guide : It shows User’s Guide. If Acrobat Reader is not installed in the computer, it tries to install Acrobat Reader automatically. Changing Language : It offers the option that user can select desired software and change an installing language.

  8. Ⅱ. Common Installer Dialog Details - Installation Select Installation Type Dialog Typical : It installs the default components for local printer. Custom : It offers the option that user can select desired software

  9. Ⅱ. Common Installer Dialog Details - Installation Connect Device This dialog recommends a user to connect a printer to user’s computer when no printer is connected. • When installer is executed, Installer will search the connected device automatically. • To install the device, connect it and select next button. • Printer port is set with the detected port. Note: In case of printer product that has only USB I/F port, only USB port picture will be shown to guide how to plug-in device.

Common Installer Dialog Details - Installation Select Components • Select Components: User can selects desired software components in Custom installation • Printer Driver : This component enables you to print documents. (Mandatory item) • Scanner Driver :This is a driver to scan documents using the local device (Mandatory item in Type 103 model) • Printer Settings Utility/Remote Control Panel : This component allows a user to change configuration parameters • Network Scan: Allows you to scan through Network printer. • Set IP : Allows you to configure a network printer's IP address • Smart Panel : shows current status of the printer. • SmarThru : It provides the tools for scanning images and documents, performing text recognition, copying and printing images and documents, and many other facilities • Change Destination Folder: User can change the destination folder with using this button. Note: The supported component is depending on Model

Common Installer Dialog Details - Installation Test Print • Test Print helps a user to verify if printer driver installation succeeds or fails.( Selectable) • If Test Page is normally printed, printer driver installation is successfully completed. • If a user installs driver without connecting the printer, Test Print dialog will not be appeared. • This dialog is shown only installation for local printer.

Common Installer Dialog Details - Maintenance version Maintenance • Repair : repairs installed driver and software. • If there is one or more installed printers, the installer will remove all the installed printers and install only one printer. • It can be used in recovering function when driver and application are damaged or out of date. • Network scan and SmarThru are not repaired by this installer. • Remove : It will removes installed driver and software. (Removable component items will be shown in selection item dialog ) • Maintenance is not supported from CD. To maintenance, follows next steps. • Start -> Programs • Click Model Name • Click “Maintenance” Note: The supported component is depending on Model

  13. Ⅱ. Common Installer Dialog Details During the installation of a printer, the installer creates “Dr. Printer” short-cut in the desktop of a user’s computer. When “Dr. Printer” short-cut is executed, it opens a homepage of the Samsung Dr. Printer. The Samsung Dr. Printer makes easy for users to diagnose the printer and update software.

  15. Ⅱ. Common Installer Dialog Details - Installation User Account Control Windows Vista OS pops up User Account Control window when a user starts the installer (including CD autorun). To proceed install/uninstall, select ‘Allow’ or ‘Continue’

Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting New Hardware Wizard If a user connect the printer, the New hardware found wizard dialog will be popped up only one time but if a user connect the MFP, the new hardware found wizard dialog will be popped up several times. Whenever the new hardware found wizard is popped up, please cancel the dialog.

  17. Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting the default printer has check mark on the printer icon • In Windows NT, click mouse right button. It should be checked to the “Set as Default Printer” Broken strings is found on the printed paper • Check default settings of printer driver 1. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Printers 2. Whether connected printer is the default printer? Error occurs when a printer is connected to USB port • 1. Turn off the printer. 2. Turn on the printer after 5 min. • 1. Connect the printer to the USB port 2. Proceed the installation after rebooting

Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting Port error occurs in Windows 2000/XP • Check the default printer • Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Printers • Verify the default printer. • Check Port • Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Printers • Select Properties after right click on Printer icon • Go to Port tab and check connected port • Computer has multiple USB ports, do re-install driver after plugging in device with USB cable.

  19. Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting • OS language and Install program language are different • Proceed installation as Custom install • Change the language selection in Select Component dialog

  20. Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting RPC error occurs during installation • Check Spool Service after Virus check 1. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services 2. Check whether Print Spooler and Remote Procedure Call service are running. If these services are not running, start these services. If the PnP dialog prompts the user to locate specific files during installation • Insert the CD into the CD Rom. • Designate the printer driver files or scanner driver files directory in the CD.

Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting If an error occur in printing, check followings • Check the installed driver properly • Check the printer port • Check the default printer • Check Spool Service after Virus check 1. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services 2. Check whether Print Spooler and Remote Procedure Call service are running. If these services are not running, start these services.

  22. Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting The printer is set as Unknown Device after set connection in Windows 98 • 1. Delete or Unknown Device in the Device Manager 2. Turn off the printer 3. Turn on the printer after 2 min. Printer driver is not installed • 1. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Printers 2. Proceed installation through Add Printer

  23. Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting Composite device installation fail • Delete or Unknown Device in the Device Manager MS USB driver error dialog occurs • 1. Delete or Unknown Device in the Device Manager 2. Reconnect the set after rebooting

  24. Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting How to Open Device Manager • 1. Right click on My computer icon in desktop 2. Select Properties 3. Select Hardware tab 4. Click Device Manager button • 1. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System 2. Select Hardware tab 3. Click Device Manager button

Ⅲ.Trouble Shooting If you want to ask about pending problem to the head office, please attach the information file of the computer in which the problem occurs. • Information file attachment method 1. Start -> Programs -> Accessories 2. System Tools -> System Information 3. Click Action -> Save as System Information file
