Identify Recalled Products that you may have received • Product name, including all brand names and generic names • Product code numbers (such as lot/unit numbers, expiration dates, use‑by dates and UPC codes) • Product description (such as powder, liquid, ready‑to‑eat, expected shelf‑life, packaging type and size). Remove Recalled Products from your facility • Including: all recalled food products and menu items containing the recalled products as ingredients • Segregate from other food products and returned to the vendor or destroy • Detailed instructions from the manufacturer or regulatory authority will specify the methods to use for product destruction What Retail Food Establishments Need to Know

Develop a Plan • The plan (procedures) should include: • the person(s) responsible for receiving information on food product recalls • the procedures for how the information is communicated to key employees • the procedures by which the products are identified and removed from service, and • the procedures for how new, safe products will be put into inventory.
