  1. Natural Disasters

  2. The ozone layer However, there are a number of practical initiatives which can be taken at the individual level to help protect the ozone layer: • Try to use products which are labeled "Ozone-Friendly" • Ensure technicians repairing your refrigerator or air conditioner recover and recycle the old CFCs so they are not released into the atmosphere. • Vehicle air conditioning units should regularly be checked for leaks.

  3. Hurricanes and Tornadoes Heavy objects, like cars and cows, can be sucked up and flung around like confetti, and houses appear to explode.

  4. Volcanoes Without doubt, erupting volcanoes are the most awesome and terrifying sights in nature. In fact, their untamed destructive firepower has shaped and influenced many ancient cultures from Pompeii, to Japan.

  5. Floods and Storms These low-lying, wide flat areas in the lower reaches of a river provide relief and take up the excess water. It's best not to build on them, though sometimes people do.

  6. What is a Tornado? Tornadoes usually form during cloudy, stormy weather and descend from severe thunderstorms as rapidly-spinning white funnels of cloud.

  7. What is a Cyclone? When warm air rises from the seas and condenses into clouds, massive amounts of heat are released. The result of this mixture of heat and moisture is often a collection of thunderstorms, from which a tropical storm can develop.

  8. You have already taken the first steps to help protect the Earth by informing yourself of the natural problems and its causes.
