Math Overview Math – Mr. Boatfield Key Concepts: Generate Equivalencies & Use Proportionalities Perform operations with integers, fractions and decimals Calculate circumference Collect, organize, display and interpret data with graphs Use order of operationswith exponents Daily schedule and list of online games on my website

  3. Math Applications Overview Mrs. Ostrander – Math Apps Extension of math class Problem Solving Re-teaching Activities Enrichment Activities Test Taking Strategies

Science Overview Mrs. Fraser - Science Key Concepts: Chemistry: Elements and Compounds, Chemical Changes Properties of Matter:Density Force and Motion: calculate speed, measure and graph motion, potential and kinetic energy Energy: Thermal, transfer of energy, resources Earth Science: Plate Tectonics, Rock cycle, Layers of the Earth, Solar Sytem Life Science: Organisms , Ecosystems Review sheets will be uploaded to Edmodo . Also, a hard copy will be given in class.

  5. Social Studies Overview Mrs. Cherian – Social Studies This school year we will learn about world cultures. We study the continents around the world and focus on their history, geography, economy, government and culture. These are the specific topics: Basic Geography and Culture Latin America Europe Asia Middle East Africa Australia/Antarctica/Oceania Students will investigate historical and contemporary events in these societies and understand the relationships that exist among world cultures. Please refer to my website throughout the school year for study guides for tests, requirements for projects and websites for research.

  13. How to help your child be successful in 6th grade! • 1. Set up an atmosphere that fosters success. • 2. Allow them to learn from their mistakes. • 3. Teach them to self- advocate. • 4. Talk to them often. Keep those lines of communication open. • 5. Check grades regularly. • 6. Know that we are your partners in this journey.
