  2. About us • Latvia`sAssociationforFamily Planning and Sexual Health • Since 1994 • A member association of International Planned ParenthoodFederation • Working on 5A (Adolescents, Advocacy, Access, Abortion, HIV/AIDS)

HIV/AIDS in Latvia • Total number for Sept 30,2005 is 3725 (x2?); • About 40% of HIV+ are younger than 25; • Risk groups- IDU sexual partners, young women; • 51% of young people of general population (15-24) use condoms during casual sex;* *Reproductive health in the population. Study on the situation in LV, 1997-2003, UNFPA

  4. “PZ” works in 3 levels Advocacy Coordination Programs

  5. Educational youth projects on SRHR • Peer to peer education • in Latvian since 1994, in Russian since 2005 (piloting 2001) • about 120 classes a year (about 2000 y.p. educated) • Youth iniciatives (e.g.Baloon mail)

  6. Educational youth projects on SRHR • Education program for vulnerable young people • Prisons, special schools for young people at risk, day care centers for street children; • Since 2004; • Program of 6 workshops;
