  2. Forum Outline Thank you to all who attended DRG3 2012 forum. On April 2nd, a diverse group of people vested in and dedicated to the Dayton Regional Green 3 Initiative convened to create an action plan in the Government, Business, and Residential sector to: Accelerate and enhance the positive, economic, social, and environmental impact of DRG3 initiative. Establish regional boards and action teams. Streamline existing sustainability efforts.

Residential Sector Session Outcomes • DRG3 has to be more visible in the community • Connect and educate churches, neighborhoods, community organizations • Marketing campaign; create modules for all local TV stations, write articles for local newsletters, T-shirt design (currently under production) • DRG3 Bus , Rolling education • Community involvement, video contest, social media

Residential Sector Session Outcomes • Create educational modules that help cities reach their citizens effectively • Offer communityoutreach that has real value • Money saving measures – homeownership classes, how to fix, how to choose • No-cost options for going green (trees, shading, repair air leaks, etc…) • DARE module, different direction!

  5. Residential Sector Session Outcomes • Connect with real estate agents – greener homes are worth more money. HERS index # can add to resale value. • Bank and real estate education • Loans tied to energy rating • Joint utility effort- Vectren, DP&L working together. • Link to existing online DP&L and Vectren resources for homeowners (currently in place on website)

  6. Residential Sector Session Outcomes • Our region’s college students as the foot soldiers for green efforts • Internship opportunities for college and high school students • Attaining 501c3 status for DRG3 to make more funding sources available

Government Sector SessionOutcomes • Collaborate to increase recycling rates • Collaborate for green purchasing preference policies, tie in to Green Business Certification Program • Encourage “ buy local” policies • Affect zoning & planning codes to encourage green construction • Encourage lifecycle cost analysis in lieu of first time cost

Government Sector Session Outcomes • Coordinated marketing “green” campaigns for cities, jurisdictions – 2 week period to the public of what we are each doing- • Green Challenge – cities and universities in our region compete to be greener • Build interest and enthusiasm through green festivals or other events. • Connecting to schools and youth • Benchmark public buildings and collectively reduce energy use
