  3. Playing it Safe on Halloween • See and be seen • Watch out for cars and other traffic • Make sure your costume does not make it hard for you to see. • Wear or carry something that glows in the dark • Don’t trip • Don’t go alone • Look over treats before eating them

  4. Can you play it safe on Halloween? Choose which one you think would be safe. When crossing the road should you: • Look both ways before crossing B. Continue walking and cross the road

  7. Playing it Safe in the Kitchen • Have an adult around to assist you when cooking • Wear an apron to keep clothes clean (or an old shirt) • Avoid baggy clothes that can catch fire • Always wash hands and keep cooking area clean • Use oven mitts when touching something hot

  11. Playing it Safe with Fire • Fire moves very fast • A small flame can turn into a much bigger flame • DO NOT PLAY WITH FIRE • Save the fire for birthday candles and roasting marshmallows • Never use fire without an adult • If there is an unexpected fire, always call 911

  13. How to play it Safe during and Emergency • Always call for help first • If no one is around dial 911 immediately • Tell operator your name and your location • Explain what happened • Follow operators instructions • Stay on the line until someone arrives

Playing it Safe riding a Bike • Always wear your helmet • Make sure your bike is the right size for you • Have an adult check your bike to make sure everything is working properly • Be seen, and be safe • Don’t wear baggy clothes that could get caught on your bike • Only ride where your parents allow you to ride • Follow the rules of the road

Playing it Safe while Swimming • Always have an adult watch while you are in the pool • Obey pool rules • Never swim alone • Walk slow in pool area, never run • Don’t push or jump on others • Don’t chew or eat gum while you swim • If you cant swim, make sure to use some kind of flotation device

  19. Playing it Safe during Thunderstorms • Understand what is happening • Know how to stay safe • Get inside right away • Stay away from bodies of water • Find a way to keep yourself calm • Wait for the sun to come out
