Diversity • There are around 20,000 known species of worms today. • Three main types of worms: flatworms, roundworms, and segmented worms. • They all perform different functions such as, decomposers and earth workers. • They all have three different tissue layers • All are bilaterally symmetrical

  3. Flatworms • Phylum name = Platyhelminthes • They about 10mm in length. • They like to live in dark places in waterways • They prey on invertebrates small enough to capture • Also, they savage on bodies of dead animals that have sunken to the bottom. • They cannot swim. • This phylum includes Flukes and Tapeworms

  5. Roundworms • Phylum name = Nematoda • 15,000 known species of Roundworms • 7 meters in length • Reproduce sexually. • This phylum includes Rotifers, hookworms, pinworms and threadworms

  6. Segmented Worms • Phylum name = annelids • 15,000 known species • Segmented body, bilaterally symmetrical, and 3 tissue layers • Reproduce sexually. ;) • They have a non segmented digestive tract • An example of this is earthworms, and leeches
