  5. Needs Assessment • Multiple Data Sources • Teacher Surveys • Test Scores • State Reports • Cross departmental discussions • Review of prior year success stories

  6. Program Overview • Summarize instructional program or services for each covered program to be funded under the No Child Left Behind Actof 2001 (NCLB) • Include each targeted population

  7. Include how the division’s programs will contribute to the attainment of the NCLB goals. • Support the NCLB goals: 1. All students will reach high standards, at a minimum, attaining proficiency or better in reading/language arts and mathematics by 2013-2014; 2. All limited English proficient students will become proficient in English and reach high academic standards, at a minimum, attaining proficiency or better in reading/language arts and mathematics; 3. By 2005-2006, all students will be taught by highly qualified teachers (If this goal has not been achieved, please address the plan for attainment of this goal); 4. All students will be educated in learning environments that are safe, drug-free, and conducive to learning; and 5. All students will graduate from high school.

  11. All Students will meet the AYP targets in reading/language arts. Eighty-one percent of all students will achieve the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) target in reading /language artsby the end of the school year. Goal Measurable Objective

Measurable Objectives • Based on the findings of the needs assessment, state the measurable objectives that will guide the development of the program(s) to be implemented with the requested federal funds. • Measurable objectives may be continued or revised from previous school year. • Describe the scientifically-based research programs and activities (models, instructional methods and techniques) that will be implemented to achieve each objective and that will be supported by the requested funds.

  13. Examples of Behavioral Measurable Objectives • By June 2010, 79 percent of studentstaking the mathematics SOLswill score at or above 400. Audience Behavior Condition Degree Evidence Subject Behavior Specific Criteria Time Period

  14. Examples By the end of the 2008-2009 school year, 90 percentofsecond-grade studentswill demonstrate an ability to comprehend * on-grade level materialsas measured by the S.T.A.R. Diagnostic Test. * This assumes attaining a score defined as “on-gradelevel” by the scoring rubric of this diagnostic test.

  15. Examples • By the end of the 2008-2009 school year, 30 percentofthe limited English proficient (LEP) students will be reclassifiedas non-LEP.

  16. Budget • Use last year’s allocation if you have not received your 2010-2011 allocation • Funds must be spent in accordance with the guidelines for each program • Budget should reflect what has been included in the application

  17. Budget - continued • Review the Expenditure Accounts Description to determine where to correctly budget items • Complete the budget detail pages • Compete the budget summary page • Totals on both must match
