  5. Aztec • Government • Empire: Emperor Nobles: Govt officials, Generals, Religious Leaders Commoners: Merchants, Crafts people, Soldiers Farmers who owned land ENSLAVED PERSONS (SLAVES)

  6. Aztec • Government: • Created a triple alliance with Texoco and Tlacopan and became the most powerful city-state with 38 provinces. This empire had about 5 to 15 million people

  7. Aztec • Religion • Polytheistic with about 1000 gods • Believed the sun was a god called Huitzilopochitli • Thought the sun god needed human blood in order to fight evil at night so human sacrifice was a regular practice
