Location / Localização • The Basque Country (in Basque EuskalHerria) is the name given to the historical and cultural region where the Basques live. • Located in the far north of Spain and the extreme south of France, the Basque Country is cut by the Pyrenees and bathed by the Cantabrian Sea. O País Basco (em basco Euskalherria) é o nome dado à região histórica e cultural, onde os bascos vivem. Localizado no extremo norte da Espanha e no extremo sul da França, o País Basco é cortada pelos Pirenéus e banhado pelo Mar Cantábrico.

  3. Location / Localização It comprises the Autonomous Communities of the Basque Country (1,2,3) and Navarre (4), in Spain, and the Iparralde (5,6,7), in France. Compreende as comunidades autónomas do País Basco (1,2,3) e Navarra (4), em Espanha, e Iparralde, em França (5,6,7).

  5. The Laguages / As Línguas In the Basque Country we speak two languages: Spanish and Basque, the latter being the native language of the region. No País Basco falam-se duas línguas: castelhano e basco, sendo esta última a língua nativa da região.

  7. The Nature/ A Natureza The Basque Country is an industrialized region, but where you can find many protected landscapes, natural landscapes, parks and nature reserves. O País Basco é uma região industrializada, mas onde se pode encontrar muitas paisagens protegidas, paisagens naturais, parques e reservas naturais.

How to go / Comochegar • To get to the Basque Country, depending on the starting point, there are several ways to get there: by plane in airports of Bilbao, San Sebastian and Vitoria; boat in the port of Bilbao or through network roads or trains. • For us, it is easier to use the aircraft as a means of transport. • Para chegar ao País Basco, dependendo do ponto de partida, há várias maneiras de chegar lá: de avião em aeroportos de Bilbao, San Sebastian e Vitoria; barco no porto de Bilbao ou através da rede estradas ou comboios. • Para nós, é mais fácil usar o avião como meio de transporte.

  9. Gastronomy / Gastronomia Basque cuisine is based in sauces and barbecue. The most typical dishes are stews of fish, especially cod and hake in green sauce, pil-pil, or vizcaína. A cozinha basca é baseada em molhos e churrascos. Os pratos mais típicos são ensopados de peixe, especialmente de bacalhau e de pescada em molho verde, pil-pil, ou vizcaína.

  10. Gastronomia O marmitako é o prato típico de pescadores e é preparado com atum, batatas e pimentos, acompanhadas de um bom txacoli, vinho branco azedo.

  11. Gastronomy The marmitako is the typical dish of fishermen and is prepared with tuna, potatoes and peppers, accompanied by a good Txacoli, sour white wine.

  12. Gastronomy / Gastronomia Among the traditional drinks you can drink wine Rioja Alavesa and the cider guipuscoana Idiazabal, a Basque town, gave its name to a white and creamy cheese. Idiazabal, a cidade basca, deu o seu nome a um queijo branco e cremoso. Entre as bebidas tradicionais pode-se beber vinho Rioja Alavesa e cidra guipuscoana.

Miramar Palace The Miramar Palace, also known as Miramar City Hall or the Royal Palace is a palace in the English style, located in the city Guuzcoana of San Sebastian O Miramar Palace, também conhecido como Cãmara de Miramar ou Palácio Real é um palácio em estilo Inglês, localizado na cidade Guuzcoanade San Sebastian.

  15. Miramar Palace It was built in 1893 by order of the Spanish royal family. Overlooking the bay of La Concha, it has one of the most spectacular views of the city. Foi construído em 1893 por ordem da família real espanhola. Com vista para a baía de La Concha, tem uma das vistas mais espetaculares da cidade.

  16. The Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao The Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao brings together more than eight thousand pieces, including paintings, sculptures, works on paper and applied arts, in a heritage group leading including a chronology of events since the twelfth century to the present day.

  17. Museu de Belas Artes de Bilbao O Museu de Belas Artes de Bilbao reúne mais de oito mil peças, entre pinturas, esculturas, obras sobre papel e artes aplicadas, em um grupo de numa cronologia que abrange desde o século XII até à atualidade.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao/Museu de Belas Artes de Bilbao It retains examples of ancient, modern and contemporary painting, especially Spanish and Flemish schools and it also has the significant presence of Basque artists. Conserva exemplos de pintura antiga, moderna e contemporânea, especialmente espanhola e das escolas flamengas e também tem uma presença significativa de artistas bascos.

  19. Museu / Guggenheim/ Museum This museum, with futuristic character, is the work of the American architect Frank Gehry and is an example of the architectural avant-garde of the late twentieth century. Este museu, de caráter futurista, é o trabalho do arquiteto americano Frank Gehry e é um exemplo da arquitectura avant-garde do século XX.

  20. The Guggenheim • Innovation, modern and contemporary art are its main features. • We can see beyond the building itself which is a work of art, permanent collections. Inovação e arte e contemporânea são suas principais características.Podemos ver, além do edifício em si que é uma obra de arte, coleções permanentes.

  21. Reserva da Biosfera/ Biosphere ReserveUrdaibai Localizado num canto remoto da Baía de Biscaia, a Reserva da Biosfera Urdaibai (23000ha) está localizada em Biscaia. Located in a remote corner of the Bay of Biscay, the Biosphere Reserve Urdaibai (23000ha) is located in Biscay.

  22. SilkenGran Hotel Domine This hotel was designed by Mariscal January and is located in front of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, on the other side of the river.   26. Schedule / Horários Trade works between 9:00h – 14:00h, with a break for the "hora de la comida" and again between 17: 00 and 21: 00h. O comércio funciona entre as 9: 00h e as 14:00h , com uma pausa para o "Hora de la comida" e novamente entre 17: 00 e 21: 00h
