  3. Part I SEMS System Introduction 1. What is SEMS SEMS is short for Smart Energy Management System The system use PLC or Zigbee technologies to remotely manage and control the outputs of individual lighting points, and GPRS technology between system Server and Data Concentrators (i.e. a main controller to manage all data and orders between individual lighting points and system Server.). Each light can be dimmed using automatic profiles to match the specific requirements of the surrounding area throughout the night. At the users command, such as in the event of an emergency, lights can be brought back up to full brightness at the touch of a button, from either a computer, laptop, or smartphone. Every lighting point within the inventory is remotely monitored, with any faults being reported to the specified user(s) via scheduled email or mobile phone message. Reports in excel or graph formats, detailing the energy usage of each light, or a particular group of lights, are also available. So far, SEMS has been successfully installed by over 300,000 units across the world and is used to realise significant cost savings and reductions in carbon emissions.

  5. Part I SEMS System Introduction 3. Functions Remote control individual lamp via computer or smartphone. Dimming lamps during night. Timing control, Longitude & latitude control. Lamp operation status detection & failure alarm. Remote & local software upgrade Failure notice & map locating function. Electricity data collection, consumption reports, data export functions.

  6. Part I SEMS System Introduction 4. System Sketch • The system is composed of 3 parts: • SEMS monitoring software • Data Concentrator(s) • Terminal Controller(s)

  7. 4. Benefits of SEMS

  8. Energy Conservation • Adjusting lamps illumination to a configured level at midnight; • 30% extra energy saving by dimming function; • Configure illumination levels according to requirements of roads, time, date; • Lengthen lamp lifetime

  9. Five Function • Easy remote management, control, test, signal communication, dimming, and inspection; • Cellphone control (GSM mode, use together with GSM modem.) • System Requirements for Cellphone Control • Android recommended (IOS pending) • 2G sim card recommended • GSM modem required

  10. Safety Protection • Detect lamp failure/ theft, report alarm, lengthen lamp lifetime 30%. • Report over-load circuit and alarm; • Alarm notice: Server, cellphone message, email.

  11. Wisdom Management • Data collection and create report, analyze data efficiently • Configure illumination levels according to requirements of roads, time, date; • Lengthen lamp lifetime

  12. Quick Maintenance • Detect failure and alarm, no labor cost for touring roads, save maintenance cost 50%. • Configure illumination levels according to requirements of roads, time, date; • Lengthen lamp lifetime

  14. Part II Product 1. Data Concentrator Data Concentrator plays a key role in structure and adjustment of the communication network for SEMS system. It receives data from Terminal Controller(s), forward commands to them; and it communicates with Server, receives commands and reports all related data.

  15. 1. Data Concentrator Model & Application

  16. 1. Data Concentrator • CC08 Functions & Features • Data collection: Collect data including voltage, current, power, etc. from Terminal Controller(s), support MODBUS protocol. • Communication: Ethernet, GPRS, Zigbee. • Adjust lighting schemes automatically, according to longitude & latitude. • Power on/off /dim/query the controllers and have signal relay function. • Support magnetic door switch detection. • Failure alarm notice function, via MSG, email, Server. • Support software update locally or remotely.

  17. Part II Product 2. Terminal Controller Terminal controllers receive commands from a concentrator to power on/off or dim the lamp. Terminal controllers can monitor the status of the lamp and transmit the data back to the concentrator.

  18. 2. Terminal Controller • RTU09B Functions & Features Remote power on/off the lamp. 0-10V dimming interface Autonomous running function Remote current, voltage, power reading function. Sodium and LED lamp failure detection function. Failure report Lightning protection

  19. Part II Product 3. SES Monitoring Software The software runs on host computer, it serves as a platform to control / manage the system, to collect measured data (current, power consumption, alarm, etc.) and monitor the status of the lighting system.
