Accomplishments • Youth Tobacco Survey • High School smoking rate in 2003 – 27.3% • High School smoking rate in 2009 – 16.7% • = 53,865 fewer high school and middle school smokers • Tobacco-Free Schools became law in 2008 building on success of TRU advocacy efforts • Smokefree restaurants and bars in 2009 supported by TRU involvement • 41 of 110 colleges are 100% tobacco-free, national leader thanks to HWTF’s, Tobacco-Free Colleges • Between 2004 and 2009, youth awareness of TRU ads rose from 48% to 77% • 31 locations designated “Fit Communities”
