  1. Grace Church 101 Class 4: Family Philosophy

  2. Family Worship and Worship in Your Home Who is the Primary Teacher of your Children? Deuteronomy 6:4-7 4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

  3. What Does Family Worship Look Like? Read the Bible together. Read through books, passages or short sections depending upon your children’s age/comprehension. - Read enthusiastically and interpretively Explain definitions of words unfamiliar to you family Clarify meaning of key verses Ask questions to verify understanding

  4. What Does Family Worship Look Like? Pray together as a family. In this not only do you get to pray for your family, but you also teach your children to pray. - Pray for whatever was taught in the reading - Make a list of people to pray for - Family prayer request - Pray through the psalms Sing together with your family in worship of your Lord. - Sing the same song or a different one each night - Use Hymnals, Psalters, or print lyrics of the internet - Music, no music, or sing-a-long

  5. What Does Family Worship Look Like? “I agree with Matthew Henry when he says, ‘They that pray in the family do well; they that pray and read the Scriptures do better; but they that pray, and read, and sing do best of all.’ There is a completeness in that kind of family worship which is much to be desired.” -- Charles Spurgeon--

  6. The Church and your Children Children’s Classes - In all classes we teach through Scripture, Catechisms and biblical Truth. - 2 things to understand - Children understand a lot more than we think they do - Salvation and truth are not based upon one’s ability to understand Salvation is miraculous and based upon God’s Working through His Word, not our intellectual ability

  7. The Church and your Children Nursery Your infants are welcome in the Service, but we do offer a nursery for them if you so choose. Training room The training room is set up much like our worship area to be used for training your children as they transition from the nursery to the regular service. Mother's Room The mother's room is located just outside the back door of the worship area and is for nursing mothers and mothers who need privacy. A changing station is also available here.

  8. Children in the Worship Service We desire to see children of all ages in the worship service that God might work through corporate worship of His name and through the Preaching of His Word to bring them to salvation. We are one church; not a children’s church, a teen church, a college church and an adult church. We are one church united in Christ Jesus our Lord.
