  2. Problem: Promising HS Seniors are not aware of leadership and career opportunities in SA and are at risk of leaving the city to work in other cities. Target (Pilot Cohort): 10-15 top level seniors selected through an application process to participate in the program. Problem, Target, Solution • Solution: • 1) Leadership development workshop: • Leadership training; • Exposure to careers/companies in the SA area through tours. • 2) Placement at a local company for an internship.

  3. SA Leaders on the Rise is committed to providing training, education, and workforce experience to young, emerging leaders that will empower these leaders to make a positive impact on the San Antonio community and economic landscape. Our Mission

  4. Cohort Selection: Spring 2015 Leadership Workshop: Second week of June Internships: mid-June to July Timeline

  5. Day 1 – Leadership Curriculum: • Background and purpose • Leadership/communication style assessment • Find your purpose activity • Research/Reflection on SA opportunities • Teamwork skills • Professionalism • Leadership versus management • Problem solving workshop (leadership applied in the real world using a specific scenario and the brain gain/drain problem) Leadership Workshop Day 1

  6. Day Two – Business Tours and Internship Placement • Tour two businesses in the morning, each with interaction from leadership of each entity. • Sponsored lunch (somewhere cool). • Tour one business in the afternoon with interaction from leadership. • Internship assignment & instructions. Leadership Workshop Day 2 VIA will provide arrangements for travel

  7. Pre-arranged with local businesses. • Set frequency/duration to start in June. • Commitments: VIA, Brooks City-Base, Nature Sweet, OLLU, Momentum Physical Therapy, KIPP San Antonio, and Pre-K 4 SA. • Inquiries from: Spurs Sports & Entertainment, SAWS, Plant Interscapes, Zachry Holdings, RJ RIVERA Associates, Inc., and more… Internships
