  1. March 27 (backup date 28 ), 2010 U. of W. Physical Sciences Lab, 3725 Schneider Dr, Stoughton, Wi, 53589 (15 miles from Madison) This hands-on workshop is designed to provide equipment and live fire experience for fire crew members. Prerequisite is passing I-100, S-130 and S-190 classroom. This workshop will provide safe and proper fire tool use instruction for novices. On a parallel track, fire leadership (squad boss, line boss) training and experience will be available for more advanced firefighters. Activities will include: review of fire behavior, gathering and measuring weather information, situation awareness and LCES, communication and documentation, control line construction and spot fire suppression. These skills will be combined and organized to conduct a 3 acre controlled burn on a restored prairie. *** Participants are responsible for their own PPE but some Nomex coveralls can be reserved, as available.
